This was one of several poems I saw on the Paris Metro, somewhere between Abbesses and Château de Vincennes. Trying to make sense of the poems made the journey go very quickly, and they were a very welcome diversion from all the H & M Jimmy Choo adverts. It’s a long time since I scraped a pass in O’Level French, so you'll have to forgive my very rough translation of this extract of Pierre Tilman’s J’ai dit parfois:
